In 1970, I began a sales career to support my writing career. Pushed into sales management to manage a crew of 22 salespeople, I researched and developed an efficient approach to selling and to sales training to help my team become #1 and stay there. It worked. Consequently, I published some of the data as a softcover book, Sell Better Sell Easier Sell Anything Artfully.
By sheer coincidence years later, I discovered that my unique approach almost matched word for word an ad-copy formula written in 1898 by advertising giant E. St. Elmo Lewis. His accomplishments led to his posthumous induction into the Advertising Hall of Fame.
Lewis' ad-writing formula swept our nation's sales industry in the early years of the 20th century. In the post-World War I vacuum, psychology infiltrated sales training and books, resulting in the omission of correct, basic data, definitions of key words related to selling, and a general use of the formula that had proven earlier to be so popular and effective!
My updated formula and book is arguably the most fundamental sales training for how to predictably sell easily and well. Here are the correct, rock-bottom basics of how to sell anything... set in a format that is easy to follow and learn.
